Suffering, Healing, and the Sacrament of Anointing
A Talk by Marcellino D'Ambrosio, Ph.D.
For many centuries, Catholics regarded this sacrament as "extreme unction," one of the "last rites" to be administered just before death. The Second Vatican Council restored this sacrament to its proper role in the life of the Church -- a means of grace for all who are suffering with a serious physical or psychological condition. The discussion of this sacrament leads Dr. D'Ambrosio to examine several very important questions in this talk: whether or not we should ask for expect physical healing from the Lord and the proper role of suffering in the Christian life.
