Staying Centered with the Liturgy of the Hours
The Second Vatican Council saw the renewal of the Liturgy of the Hours as a key piece of the liturgical renewal needed to empower the Church to meet the challenge of the Modern World. Despite reforms in the actual texts and structure of the Hours, the way most Catholics approach and use (or fail to use) the Liturgy of the Hours has remained much the same. A discussion of the history and purpose of the hours, the Council’s intention, and how practically busy priests, deacons, and lay people can make it more of a reality thus enriching, energizing, and stabilizing their lives.
