Or\u00edgenes nos muestra aqu\u00ed como el Viernes Santo es el eterno D\u00eda de la Expiaci\u00f3n que estaba prefigurado por el Yom Kippur mencionado en el libro de Lev\u00edtico. Jesucristo es el verdadero Sumo Sacerdote y el verdadero sacrificio cuya muerte quita el pecado de una vez por todas. Algo interesante sobre esta lectura es que nos dice como surgi\u00f3 la costumbre cristiana de orar viendo hacia el Oriente. Esta costumbre era tan generalizada que una vez se legaliz\u00f3 el cristianismo, las iglesias a menudo eran construidas viendo hacia el oriente<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

U<\/span>na vez al a\u00f1o, el Sumo Sacerdote, dejando a la gente afuera, ingresaba en el lugar donde nadie excepto \u00e9l \u00a0pod\u00eda entrar. Adentro se encontraba el propiciatorio y sobre el propiciatorio los querubines, as\u00ed como tambi\u00e9n el arca de la alianza y el altar de incienso.<\/p>\n

Jes\u00fas, el verdadero sumo sacerdote<\/h2>\n

Enfoqu\u00e9monos por un momento en el verdadero sumo sacerdote, el se\u00f1or Jesucristo. Bajo nuestra naturaleza humana, Jes\u00fas pas\u00f3 todo el a\u00f1o acompa\u00f1ando al pueblo. A esto se refer\u00eda cuando dijo: \u00c9l me envi\u00f3 para traer la buena nueva a los pobres, para anunciar el a\u00f1o de gracia del Se\u00f1or y el d\u00eda del perd\u00f3n. Observemos que una vez en ese\u00a0a\u00f1o, en el D\u00eda de la Expiaci\u00f3n, \u00c9l entr\u00f3 al Santo de los Santos. Habiendo cumplido el plan de Dios, atraves\u00f3 los cielos y entr\u00f3 en la presencia del Padre para que mostrar\u00e1 misericordia a la raza humana y para orar por todos los que creen en \u00e9l.<\/p>\n

El ap\u00f3stol Juan, conociendo de la expiaci\u00f3n que Cristo hace al Padre por todos los hombres, dice lo siguiente: \u201cHijitos m\u00edos, os escribo esto para que no pequ\u00e9is. Pero si alguno peca, tenemos a uno que abogue ante el Padre: a Jesucristo, el Justo. \u00c9l es v\u00edctima de propiciaci\u00f3n por nuestros pecados, no s\u00f3lo por los nuestros, sino tambi\u00e9n por los del mundo entero\u00bb(1 Juan 2:1-2).\u00a0Por lo tanto tenemos un d\u00eda de expiaci\u00f3n que permanece hasta el fin del mundo. La palabra de Dios nos dice:\u201d \u00abEl Sumo Sacerdote pondr\u00e1 el incienso sobre el fuego, delante de Yahveh, para que la nube del incienso envuelva el propiciatorio que est\u00e1 encima del Testimonio y \u00e9l no muera. Tomando luego la sangre del novillo, rociar\u00e1 con su dedo el lado oriental del propiciatorio\u00bb\u00a0(Lev\u00edtico 16)<\/p>\n

La Sangre de la expiaci\u00f3n<\/h2>\n

Dios ense\u00f1\u00f3 al pueblo de la Antigua Alianza c\u00f3mo celebrar el ritual para expiar los pecados de los hombres. Pero ahora, ha llegado Cristo, el verdadero Sumo Sacerdote. A trav\u00e9s de su sangre ha hecho que Dios se vuelva hacia ti con misericordia y te ha reconciliado con el Padre. No pienses que est\u00e1 es sangre como cualquier otra, debes aprender a reconocer la sangre del Verbo. Esc\u00fachalo cuando te dice: \u201cEsta es mi sangre que ser\u00e1 derramada para el perd\u00f3n de los pecados\u201d (Mateo 26:28)<\/p>\n

Hacia el Oriente<\/h2>\n

Existe un significado m\u00e1s profundo en el hecho de que el sumo sacerdote roc\u00ede la sangre hacia el Oriente. El perd\u00f3n viene hacia ti desde el Oriente, desde el Oriente surge aquel quien es llamado \u00abSol que nace de lo alto\u00bb, aquel qu\u00e9 es el mediador entre Dios y los hombres. T\u00fa est\u00e1s invitado a ver siempre hacia el Oriente: es ah\u00ed donde el sol de la rectitud surge para ti, es ah\u00ed donde la luz siempre resurge para ti. Nunca caminar\u00e1s en la oscuridad; el grandioso d\u00eda final no te envolver\u00e1 en tinieblas. No dejes que \u00a0la noche y las tinieblas de la ignorancia caigan sobre ti. Para que puedas disfrutar la luz del conocimiento, sigue siempre a la luz de la fe, mantente siempre fiel a la luz del amor y la paz.<\/p>\n

He was inspired by his father\u2019s heroic example to dedicate himself to a strict life of prayer, fasting and study. The bishop of Alexandria, Demetrius, recognized the talent and holiness of this young man and named him head of the catechetical school of this great center of early Christianity. Origen ultimately became one of the greatest Scripture scholars and preachers of the early Church. Though he began his teaching ministry as a lay catechist, Origen was ultimately ordained a priest and wrote commentaries and homilies that influenced subsequent Early Church Fathers from both East and West. Though he did not receive the grace of martyrdom, Origen was imprisoned and brutally tortured for his faith during the persecution that took place under the emperor Decius. Weakened by his ordeal, he died a few years later in 254 AD. Though several of Origen\u2019s teachings were condemned after his death by Church authorities, it must be remembered that his erroneous opinions were expressed in matters that had not yet been defined by official Church teaching. In his lifetime, Origen was always a loyal son of the Church whose correct opinions far outnumbered his errors. Origen\u2019s writings were profuse indeed, though only a limited number survive. He wrote commentaries on almost every book of the Bible, with his treatise on Song of Songs, Romans, and many homilies on the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Old Testament) surviving either intact or in large portions. He was the author of one of the earliest attempts at textual criticism of the Old Testament, the Hexapla, and was responsible for the first attempt at systematic theology in his famous De Principiis (On First Principles). His two works of spiritual theology, Exhortation to Martyrdom and On Prayer were widely read in the Early Church and are still read today, with many excerpts used in the Roman Office of Readings. He was inspired by his father\u2019s heroic example to dedicate himself to a strict life of prayer, fasting and study. The bishop of Alexandria, Demetrius, recognized the talent and holiness of this young man and named him head of the catechetical school of this great center of early Christianity. Origen ultimately became one of the greatest Scripture scholars and preachers of the early Church. Though he began his teaching ministry as a lay catechist, Origen was ultimately ordained a priest and wrote commentaries and homilies that influenced subsequent Early Church Fathers from both East and West. Though he did not receive the grace of martyrdom, Origen was imprisoned and brutally tortured for his faith during the persecution that took place under the emperor Decius. Weakened by his ordeal, he died a few years later in 254 AD. Though several of Origen\u2019s teachings were condemned after his death by Church authorities, it must be remembered that his erroneous opinions were expressed in matters that had not yet been defined by official Church teaching. In his lifetime, Origen was always a loyal son of the Church whose correct opinions far outnumbered his errors. Origen\u2019s writings were profuse indeed, though only a limited number survive. He wrote commentaries on almost every book of the Bible, with his treatise on Song of Songs, Romans, and many homilies on the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Old Testament) surviving either intact or in large portions. He was the author of one of the earliest attempts at textual criticism of the Old Testament, the Hexapla, and was responsible for the first attempt at systematic theology in his famous De Principiis (On First Principles). His two works of spiritual theology, Exhortation to Martyrdom and On Prayer were widely read in the Early Church and are still read today, with many excerpts used in the Roman Office of Readings.
