St. Chromatius, an early Church Father, was bishop of Aquileia, near present day Trieste Italy. He was a contemporary of other fathers including Jerome, John Chrysostom and Ambrose, with all three of whom he carried on a lively correspondence. St. Chromatius was a fierce opponent of the Arian heresy and worked to root it out of his diocese. His surviving works include a treatise of the Gospel of Matthew and some sermons, including one on the Beatitudes. He died around 406AD. Biography by Dr. Italy
