Blessed Karl (or Charles) of Austria, much like St. Joseph, exemplified the virtue of meekness that Jesus proclaims in the beatitudes: “blessed are the meek.” Meekness does not equal weakness; to the contrary, it can be defined as “strength under control.” Meekness is a leadership virtue modeled by the one we should pattern our lives after, Jesus, but also in other great figures of our faith, such as Moses and St. Joseph.
Bl. Karl’s holiness sprung from his rootedness in Christ; he was a branch who abided in the vine, through all his troubles, sufferings, and disappointments, placing his trust in the Sacred Heart. In this video, Dr. Italy explores the relationship of Jesus with his foster-father St. Joseph, and how the meekness and humility of both was also a hallmark of Blessed Karl’s life.
