This brief video gives us a glimpse of the heart and vision of Perpetua, a young Roman woman whose resistance to the demands of a pagan society lead to her martyrdom
Sherwood Fellow’s music video style video meditation upon the martyrdom of St. Perpetua shows that fidelity to Jesus Christ necessarily entails resistance to a pagan society that demands total allegiance and tolerates no rivals. While Christians today often bemoan persecution and see it as a catastrophe, Perpetua shows how the martyrs of the first few centuries saw it as an opportunity to suffer with Christ and to be speedily united with him in paradise. The Martyrs rejoiced in hope. They longed for the glory of heaven and no obstacle, no threat, no torture could possibly deter them from their pathway to Christ.
