Jesus: The Way, the Truth, and the Life by Marcellino D’Ambrosio is a book of approximately 250 pages that stands alone but also accompanies the 10-week video study program presented by Marcellino D’Ambrosio, Jeff Cavins, and Edward Sri.

In this book, Catholics walk step by step with Jesus from his infancy to the Ascension. Anchored in the life of Christ as presented in the Gospels, it explores the entirety of Jesus’ life—who he is, what he is really like, what he taught, what he did for our salvation, and what this means for us as Catholics today.

This study shows, in a simple way, how Jesus, the Incarnate God, is both fully divine and fully human—his intimacy with the Father, his revelation of the Father’s love, and his extraordinary influence on his disciples, his followers, and even his enemies.

Each chapter is designed to accompany a lesson in the study program, Jesus: The Way, the Truth, and the Life.

I have already recommended this book, “Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life”, my friend Dr.
    Marcellino D’Ambrosio has written,
several times on my social media sites and to friends and family alike. But, I’m going to repeat… GET THIS BOOK!! This is the BEST introductory text I have ever read on the Life of Christ, and I have read a lot of them over the past 30 years as a Graduate Theology student, teacher, minister, and Adult Faith Formation instructor for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. This is an incredible book, and it’s not just written for a Catholic audience! It is very well researched using all of the requisite historical-critical biblical exegesis, but it doesn’t read like a graduate level treatise. It is very readable, and flows from chapter to chapter, theme to theme. You won’t want to put this book down once you start reading it! Well done Dr. Italy! You are already a renowned, eloquent and popular Evangelist and speaker, but your writing may even be better!!

God bless you and your ministry at Crossroads Initiative!

    Sincerely,

“If you are someone who has thought of Jesus to be a mystical figure who lived 2,000 years ago in a land that seems foreign and unimaginable, look no further to discover a very real story about the life and death of Jesus, the person. Marcellino D’Ambrosio writes in a clear, relatable and detailed approach that draws you into the story of Jesus’ life walking with him through the various locations of his ministry and with the people who called him “Teacher”.

The book reads like a novel, engaging and hypnotic that makes you want more. I couldn’t put it down! And after reading it once, I find myself wanting to read it again. It’s truly a work of art. Not to mention that gorgeous cover!! The notes in the back of the book are super helpful to dive a little deeper.

This is NOT an academic book. Marcellino writes for the average consumer who loves to read a good story. Don’t pass this one up. ”

One of the great things about teaching is that one teaches
great students of whom one can be justly proud. Marcellino
D’Ambrosio is my former student and he has written an excel-
lent book on our Lord Jesus. It is faithful to the Gospels and
while using biblical criticism, it always does so respecting the
guidelines of the faith. It gives us the Jewish and historical
background. This is a delightful book to read, so much so that
one wants to share it with others. As St. Augustine heard the
words “Tolle, Lege”… “take and read”, I say the same recommending to all.

Reading this book deepened my friendship with Jesus, God our Father and their Holy Spirit. Marcellino makes Jesus so real by teaching us about the political and cultural reality of Jesus’ time on earth. After reading this book, you will understand, in a new way, the mission of Jesus and the zeal and love with which He carried it out. I also now understand, in a new way, that I am to be on mission to bring Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life to others.

In Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, Dr. D’Ambrosio interweaves history, geography, and cultural and political backstory of the various people and groups present – the entire setting into which Our Lord was born – with etymology, biblical scholarship, and the insights of the church fathers, as he walks the reader through the life of Jesus Christ. The book is extremely well written, seamless, and detailed. It nevertheless moves at pace that allows the reader to absorb and be enlightened, without dwelling on any point so long as to leave the reader stuck in the mud. As such, the book is both a) extremely easy to follow and understand for the beginner, and; b) thoroughly informative, enriching, and extraordinarily satisfying for those (like myself) who have enjoyed many top notch Bible studies, books, and speakers on the faith, discipleship, apologetics, theology, and the spiritual life. In fact, it is here Dr. D’Ambrosio shines as, while he takes on this journey through the salvation history as it culminates in Jesus, he subtlety and painlessly uplifts the reader in each of these areas. As a result, the major points and nuances of events and Jesus’ teaching and mission take on new meaning as the rich picture painted by the author brings the reader’s understanding of Jesus to a new level. The author does this, in some cases, by taking a single word of scripture, or the minutia of an event, that most people would take for granted as unimportant – and analyzing the word in scriptural history or the event in cultural context so as to bring a completely fresh, deeper, and exciting meaning to bible passages we have heard many times before. As an extra I might add the footnote references are helpful and suggestions for further reading impeccable.
Not long into this book, it was clear that this work represents a lifetime of intense and joyful, study, teaching, prayer, contemplation by Dr. D’Ambrosio. Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life is an absolutely wonderful book, the Bible study terrific, and the video a travelogue that brings the journey all the more to life. Whether intended or not, the beautifully presented facts lead the reader to conclusions that enlighten the mind, subtly serve to deepen faith, and draw the heart closer to Our Lord – who loved us and loved us to the end. Thank you for this gift.
