Bruno of Segni

St. Bruno became bishop of Segni in the Campagna region of Italy in the late 11th century where he worked tirelessly for the reform of the Church alongside Pope Gregory VII and his successors. He left his see to spend several years as abbot of the Benedictine Monastery of Monte Cassino before returning to Segni where he died in 1123. He was canonized by Pope Lucius III in 1181. Most of his writings were exegetical in nature. He is considered one of the greatest biblical commentators of his era.Biography by Dr. Italy
