St. Polycarp (70?-156 AD), Bishop of Smyrna in Asia Minor, we learn from St. Irenaeus who listened to Polycarp as a boy, spoke "of his relations with John and with others who had seen our Lord, and how he quoted from their language and how much he had learned from them concerning the Lord, his miracles and his teaching." He died a martyr at age 86.
