Slated for release in 2018, 8Beats is an Anthology of eight short films, each a contemporary reflection on one of the 8 Beatitudes of Matthew’s gospel. Produced by over 70 of the best Catholic filmmakers in North America, it is a special collaborative project sponsored by Catholic Creatives and the Crossroads Initiative. It is distinct in that it is being produced by Catholic millennials for millennials who don’t yet know the beauty of Christ and his Church, but are searching for meaning and appreciative of beauty.
Catholic Creatives is movement of Catholic designers, filmmakers, photographers, creative thinkers, artists, entrepreneurs, and others working to bring the gospel to the world in fresh, beautiful ways. The Catholic Creatives community, which includes over 1,000 Catholic millennials from the US and Canada, provides members the opportunity for feedback, collaboration, and resources. The Church was once at the forefront of beauty, art and design in Western culture— the mission of Catholic Creatives is to help restore! In a self-centered world, Members seek to use their God-given gifts in selfless ways for His glory. The range of activities of Catholic Creatives includes “creative challenge” meetups throughout the country, a resource-packed website and online community, and an annual summit where members can connect in person.
