Tips for Dealing with the Sexual Abuse Crisis – Podcast

In this podcast, Sonrise Morning Show host Anna Mitchell interviews Dr. Italy on the ongoing sexual abuse crisis in the Church and asks him for practical tips on how best to deal with it.

The crisis caused by the revelations of clerical sexual abuse of minors as well as seminarians has rocked the Catholic Church over the past few years.  Recently, a high-ranking priest at the US Conference of Catholic Bishops resigned when it became public that he had been repeatedly been using a “hook-up” app to meet other men.  Though there is no clear evidence that his liasons were with minors, it is still a horror to see a clergyman entrusted with investigating clerical sexual abuse leading a double-life of sex-addiction.  There seems to be a fresh news report on a new scandal each week.  So the issue is continually before us.

How do we, laypeople and clergy alike, process what has happened?  How do we conduct ourselves amidst this mess?  What can we do to help the situation?  Answers to these questions and practical tips for dealing with the crisis are covered in this 14 minute podcast.
